Silhouettes
Silhouettes are rather easy to accomplish with Windlight in Second Life, but in terms of showing off clothing or locations it simply doesn't work. I have a deep and abiding love for the effect, so I've decided to begin to collect pictures in various places where the silhouette is particularly attractive.
There is something to the simplicity of the silhouette; how it brushes away all of the details, leaving stark layers behind. The world sometimes seems distressingly nuanced, and lately I've come face to face with my own profound, upsetting helplessness - how inadequate love is in the face of an uncontrollable world. I feel a darkness, a tiredness in me tonight; my mind is in silhouette tonight - all sharp edges and shadows and grief.

SL Disney Bound – Week Twenty Six: Mr. Walt Disney
This is the last of the Disneybound Challenges, and I'm both sad and glad to end things with Mr. Walt Disney; he is an interesting figure, very much of his time, and so my feelings about him are highly mixed. I've had fun with this challenge, though, even if I regularly escaped the bounds of reasonable clothing and well into standard Second Life glamour and impossibility. It will be a bit of a relief to finish out a challenge, though, and as it is I'm several weeks late.I bit off rather more than I could chew, even though a few challenges went by the wayside - I think from here on out I'll limit myself to only a couple of challenges, instead of the four I attempted briefly over the summer. I'm increasingly feeling a drive to become more expressive, though; to try to capture my emotions through these images and somehow find a relief from my suffering. Recent time has been very difficult offline, with pressure high, and sometimes I feel like I'm boiling inside - my center molten and no longer steady. I've been trying to escape through a variety of vehicles, but I think the hardest part is looking into the mirror and not being sure I like what I see. I don't know how to be any better, though, and so I stumble along dragging lives with me in ruins, and I weep at the world around me as it burns and freezes. There are twists and curves I can't manage, and I am left with only, "I don't know what to do." And so, the world or me failing, what can I do but get dressed up and take pictures?
My hat is an old purchase from Glam Affair which I really adore - a simple cap with bows as butterflies over a single branch; elegant, artistic, and I can tint it if I want, rendering it perfection. I tucked it over a loose updo from Luletka that was blessedly unrigged mesh, so I could narrow it from to back and fit the cap more easily on top. I love how it's half pulled back and half unraveled, as if the cares of the day have driven it out of it's morning's perfection. The jewelry which dominates this look is from Mandala, and it's glorious; I have it in white and red from the marketplace, and I'll be seeking out the other colors in world when I have some time to breathe - I adore how it shimmers, and how enormous the jewels are. Large jewels work well in contrast to the simplicity of this dress from Valentina E, special release for the Liaison Collaboration, a double slit, formal gown with a lovely silhouette and enough skin showing to be alluring without losing the elegance. My nails, stockings, and ring all come from Stellar, released as part of the Flowers in my Attic, and are part of the SLink Enhancement system, which means the stockings work perfectly with my SLink feet which are stuffed snugly into these awesome tri-colored heels from SLink proper.

Twisted Color Challenge: Week 38: Hawthorne’s Dusk
Hawthorne's Dusk is a lovely combination of a soft, warm red and a bright, clear gray. I went rather heavier on the red than the gray, using the latter as accessory and not the main attraction. They mix in my gorgeous wings from Deviance, silver for the veins and rich red for the membrane. These are rares from her Gatcha, but I really hope that she continues to make wings because the styling and texturing on these are completely exquisite, and I would love for ones as intricate as the rares to be easily available to everyone. Silver and red mix as well in my fern-like jewelry from Eclectica, complete with delicate rings and a lovely tiara. The metal and stone are tintable in a ton of different colors, which makes it easy to match to lots of outfits - a feature of all of Eclectica's creations, which makes her one of my favorites. Thirdly, I was able to pair silver and red in gorgeous nails from Orc Inc, in the glory of her glitteryness - I adore her glittery nails, and especially the sheer opulence of the number of choices she gives in her large sets.
As for the two solo colors of this outfit - the dress is a gorgeous release from Impish which I picked up at an event along the way - they are now available at her store, I checked - with a funky, loose Nineteen Twenties vibe with fun Art Deco patterning on it. I especially like the handkerchief hem - something difficult to accomplish with rigging in Second Life, though this one moves well with different poses. Finally, my amazing SLink adjacent shoes are from Sax Shepherd Designs, and I've worn them for a few different looks recently, but I think this is the best picture I've gotten of them so far. They're a deceptively simple, slip on shoes with a bunch of options in recoloring the heel, base, and the cross straps. I love them for deceptively casual looks, like I was just lounging around in my vintage-wear when struck with the mad desire for some flowers.

SL Disney Bound – Week Twenty Five: Belle
I took Belle a little dark for this Disneybound - the penultimate one. I'm reminded of the storyline for Belle in the second season of Once Upon a Time, when you meet the "not fairytale" version of her; in the fairytale version she often comes across as sweetness and light, her purity being that which transforms the beast, but I've always thought that Belle or Beauty must have a significantly darker side; the only explanation for the tension between light and dark is that each has some of the other within them. That is one of the core conflicts of a Beauty and the Beast kind of person; spending so long seeking the dark in others, it's only when one looks inside to find ones own darkness that one can be free of the darkness of others. Getting a brief glimpse of the darkness of Belle as conceived of in Once Upon a Time, the love of danger, the attraction to the imperfect, was a real reminder of my connection with the story.
This Belle wears her black and white out on the surface in this amazing dress from Blue Blood that was part of her Whitegoth line. I adore the stripes, and the double layered skirt, and it moves beautifully. It actually comes with every conceivable layer, shirt and corset layered separately, and two skirts - this short Lolita one and a longer ballgown. My Belle-tastic brown hair is from Underscore in a loose style with large curls and a spiral of hair down the back. It comes in three different sizes, which means it fits even my big, round head. The tendrils down into the torso move really well as my head shifted direction; in particular, the front curl stretched in a natural way due to it's loose shape. Flying up from my head in butterflytastic glory is this metamorphesis from Boom; I love to find excuses to include in my looks. On my wrists and ankles is a simple, shell set from AZE which; I really enjoy how well it falls on the ankle, something which you can see more clearly in this closeup. I wish more jewelry sets came with anklets; I'm always tempted to turn bracelets into anklets, and necklaces into bracelets with jewelry. Finally, those amazing shoes are from Eclectica and are part of a new release set of hers. It has a fantastic shape and the shading is textured without being losing the softness of velvet. The heel, button, and body of the shoe are all texture changeable, as well, which makes them very adaptable.

Monday Meme: It’s My Birthday!
For her birthday, Strawberry gave us all a gift - the gift of a new birthday meme (two, actually - one is a short set of questions, and the other is the fun of decorating her).
- When is your birthday? – February 29th, which makes me a Pisces.
- Pick one person who shares your birthday and share what you know about them. – Sir James Wilson (1812–1880) was born and died on February 29. He was born in Scotland and ended up being Premier of Tasmania under the British Empire.
- List one notable event that took place on your birthday. – Since it's so rare, not much occurs on my birthday. On the list of events, the one which stood out for me was the fact that Hattie McDaniel became the first African American to win an Academy Award for her role as Mammy in Gone with the Wind. May many Academy Awards follow for people who aren't white; dear gods we whites hog honors and awards.
- Tell us about a holiday that falls on your birthday. – My birthday is Leap Day, which means it only exists every four years. It's a way of resetting the calender to account for the fact that the amount of time it takes us to go around the sun isn't quite 365 days. On most century years, except 2000, it's skipped because it's not quite an extra day every year. I have actually gotten into an argument with someone about whether my birthday was March 1st the other three years - so I'm here to officially say that it literally doesn't exist.

Ruminations on Shape and Identity
I went to a "fashion competition" a couple of times. Some of it was pure curiosity; I got the note about it when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. I've been to one fashion show before, and was struck by the uniform yet unrealistic avatars, and part of me wanted to see if the trend continued. Also, there's a part of me, probably deeply socialized, that feels in part I am not "good" or "worthy" if I'm not "attractive", and that the only way to be deemed attractive is to have strangers speak up on it.
That's a long way of saying that I briefly considered one of the free modeling courses they have in place.
My worry, and the more I watch "official" models and their agencies the more I'm convinced this is accurate, is that I would have to radically alter my shape in a way I found deeply unattractive in order for these strangers to find me attractive. I would have to lengthen my legs significantly, lower my muscle and body fat,
To spell it out - I'm not model material as I am.
Shape is a very personal thing in Second Life - even moreso than offline, since we have so much power over what we look like. Sub genres like the tall, thin supermodels, the widehipped uglycute girls, the enormous torsoed men, and all of the groups focused on oversized bodyparts of all sorts congregate around certain styles and polarize opinions of the people who don't fit into those groups. I find critiques of how people present themselves both fascinating and frustrating; fascinating because it says so much about both sides of the discussion, and frustrating because so much of the discussion boiled down to questioning the morals and personalities of people based solely on their appearance.
I'd love a more nuanced discussion of what people find attractive, why they think that, and what sorts of messages are they trying to express to the world. How we present ourselves and how we are received is a critical part of human interaction, and having a place where we have such minute control over how we present ourselves offers up such possibility for really examining the relationships between interior experience and our presentation of who we are.
My hair is a fantastic release from Red Mint, a store I met a long time ago but which I rediscovered through the hair faire. The wild styles work fantastically rigged while keeping the loose, free style. I styled it with a jewelry set from Sax Shepherd Designs with large gems in an ornate style; it's color change on touch, either two or three separate gems, which offers up a lot of possibilities. It comes with a head dress, two versions of the necklace, earrings, and two types of bracelets - and I'm using them all. My dress is an astonishing hunt prize from Soul, a store I found through one of the smaller hunts I took part in recently; I really adore it, as rainbow striped clothing is a rare thing and this texture is amazing. My purse is the cutest ever bag from Adore & Abhor. It comes in regular, chocolate coated, and strawberry coated - I'm showing chocolate coated here. The band is a bunch of different fortunes and is changeable on touch, which is really fun and some of them are really profound. Right now I have it saying: "Courage is not the absence of fear. It is doing what you must in spite of it." Finally, my amazing shoes - based around the SLink enhanced feet - are a new release from Lassitude & Ennui which are really unique and make excellent use of the seamless aspects of the feet. I love the delicate lacy detail, and the way it frames my toes and ankles.

Twisted Color Challenge: Week 37: Orchid House
Orchid House is a lovely combination of a paler, greyer purple with a bright, strong blue - and I think I batted this one out of the park this week, in terms of clothing. In terms of the rest... I'm feeling vaguely cranky. We'll see what the people think on flickr.
It's been a while since I wore a bunch of bright colors together - I rather missed the effect.

Genres - Trivial and Critical
The Genre Event always gets me thinking about genres; which ones I like and which I struggled with, which seem clear and which become confusing, my knee-jerk and longer term responses to people who can't seem to identify a genre and so put forth something more in line with their usual output than the theme of the event. In general terms, I like fantasy, I like science fiction, I like mysteries - especially cosy mysteries, but I dislike horror unless it's psychological suspense and even then I'm watching it during the day. I like romances but I'm picky, anything that ends up down Gender Essentialist Blvd will raise my ire. I like Rock & Roll and Pop, but not the sexist bits and at inopportune times I'm prone to pointing out we stole most of it from Black people. I love philosophy, but I'm a post-modernist who became so not because of classes but because I thought it made the most sense, and then I met other post-modernists and became very sad; see also Libertarianism (though now I'm really a progressive socialist).
I know it may seem like political things don't fit under "genre", but if you really think about it, a genre is really just a collection of similar characteristics with which something or someone is identified; we focus on it in entertainment media, but sports varieties are really genres, and sports geeks are as geeky as Dr. Who geeks. The same with fashion; while everyone wears clothing, there are distinct stylistic genres people can become attached to, like my attraction to Renaissance-y and Lolita style fashions. These days, it seems like the internet is ever more ready to divide us by our genres, sending the furry Lolitas one way and the sporty country lovers the other. I like the frisson when I run across something I might normally not like - like Westerns, I am neither a neutral nor a Country kind of girl - in such a way that I find things I can appreciate as a part of it. I'm wary of the ways in which the internet molds my world so it reflects back to me what I like - only more so. I want to see the world, not my own reflection.
All of the major features of my look come from the Genre Event, which has the theme of "Westerns." The pickings were much slimmer than for other themes, but a lot of what was released was very high quality. This dress from The Muses is a gorgeous Westerns style dress with an amazing belt and some truly gorgeous textures. The shape is amazing and nearly perfect - I just wish the inside of the sleeves had been capped so that I could more easily photograph straight down them; the immediate inside is textured, but a few inches beyond it becomes invisible, which can be a challenge to work around. I still adore this dress, though - the ruffles down the front (several different colored shirts are available, all of them gorgeous), the lace like pattern on the skirt, the soft cuffs and neckline - from stem to stern it is unique and a joy. My jewelry is something I actually own a version of offline - Squash Blossom jewelry from Sense-able Fashions. I have a set much more heavily festooned with turquoise, but the shape of the blossom is the same, and I particularly appreciated that Sense-able Fashions included a little note about the origin of the necklace.
"The Navajo (Dine) create beautiful jewelry of Silver and semi-precious stone...The Naja (crescent shape) came to the Americas via the earliest Spanish invaders. The crescent shape with its horns turned down was considered a means to ward off the 'evil eye'. The 'blossoms' were based off pomegranate, another symbol from the invaders, incorporated by Native American Artisans."My shoes are a really fun release from Bliensen + MaiTai which I simply had to have when I saw them. The fringe is lovely, and the little beads just make it that much more cool. I could totally see my Country Marm strutting around in these... though the heels are probably a little high. The rest of my look is not from the Genre Event; the hair flower from Lode is being released at L'Accessories, and is a fun take on big flowers on your head. The ombre texturing is lovely, and I really like the ribbon touch down one side. My hair from Wasabi Pills is available at the Arcade Gatcha event and is a lot of fun; when I put it on, I thought the simplicity of the formality really fit the genre of Westerns, and this character of a prim lady with a wild side particularly well. I briefly considered pulling my poses form yet another event going on this month, but at the last minute swerved and landed neatly into Olive Juice's capable hands. While her store is largely closed, it does maintain an in-world presence, and hopefully when the creator has more time she'll be back to grace us with more of her fun and quirky poses.

Monday Meme: Surrealism Challenge
The minute I read Strawberry's Surrealism Challenge - to bring some surrealism into our Second Lives - I knew exactly what I wanted to do, though not exactly what I wanted to wear. I had run across the Musiclandia Sim about a week or two back when I swung by LEA to see what they were up to and lament the lack of attention I've given to tracking these awesome hotbeds of creativity in Second Life. The creator was there, which was a little embarrassing; I always feel self-conscious when experiencing a creation while the creator is right there. It was charming even then, partially built; I particularly liked the amount of play it encouraged, through different ways of interacting musically with the sim. So as soon as I read surrealism, I thought of this land of enormous instruments which had made me feel tiny, and I thought of playing an instrument on an instrument, but I needed something truly unique and not possible offline to wear, to really bring the idea alive.
I am always a little saddened that we don't have more reality breaking clothing like this, especially given how easy it is within Second Life, but I think the bizarre and outre often disturb people; earlier, hanging with some friends, a friend had put on a Salvador Dali inspired stilts dress which is all over the feeds right now, and deeply disturbed a friend of a friend, who kept commenting on how creepy it was. I love it, if worry it's over-saturated, but I suspect this friend is not alone in finding the surreal, the truly not possible elsewhere effects unsettling. However, a long while ago I had seen a few different variations of dresses that are other things - and the two which had struck with me was the dress that was a birdcage, and this dress - the dress that was an hourglass. It took some doing to figure out who made it and where I could get it - google is a fantastic thing - and once I did the rest of the look simply fell out of my inventory in a wash of perfection. I have rarely had an outfit come together as swiftly and satisfyingly as this did - and I fully intend on doing an entire photoshoot so that you can enjoy all of the details I was able to sneak into it, which are much harder to see at a distance.

SL Disney Bound – Week Twenty Four: Mushu
I went full on theatrical for Mushu, but I'm afraid I've long left behind the idea that any of these looks would be casual ones for going out into the community, unless that community was Second Life, in which case I took this look dancing last night. The eyes are a release from Tacky Star that I thought really embodied the draconic spirit; I particularly like how dark the pupils are, like pools deep into my brain. This style is available in a wide variety of colors, too, each of them delicate and crisp, and you can change the size of the iris through clicking the eye itself, as these are prim eyeballs. The lips are from an old Adore & Abhor set which I return to time and again because they're so unique, delicate, and fantastic. I love the effect of layering the smaller lip color over larger lips. It's especially fun in the "toothsmile" setting, where it ends up pulled thin and tight. My skin is a fantastic release from Fallen Gods which I've been sitting on a while, and I'm really struck by the delicate texturing on the face. I like how it gives the illusion of movement even though I'm perfectly still; it looks lace-like in it's delicacy, and the pattern continues, as you can see below, everywhere. I also really, really like the teeth - which fit into the color pallet perfectly while still adding a creepy effect when I smile. The texturing also continues over the hands and feet, but I played a bit of a conjuring trip because I wanted to make use of the SLink hands and feet, and Fallen Gods doesn't (yet?) release appliers for them. I used Orc Inc's arm and leg fades to bring in a similar enough shade of red - you can see the fade point below about mid-upper arm. I sort of wish Orc Inc had included a lower fade, and I may end up playing some more myself with forearm fades to see if I can correct for other fantasy skins; I adore using them, but more often than not they don't release the necessary appliers, and the tones are unusual enough that it can be difficult to find an applier that would work from another skin line.
My hair is a gorgeous new release from Underscore with some new texture options, like this layering of different shades of red which I thought set off my skin so beautifully. I love the lighter bits over the bangs, giving depth to the color. I topped it with roses, this headdress from Glam Affair which got rather a lot of play on the feeds back in the day. I love the simplicity of it, and how well the curved base sits on my hair; it also works well tucked up against an updo. My wings are one of the rares from Deviance's gatcha for the Fantasy Gatcha Event, not available at her main store to suck all of the lindens out of your pockets. I don't have words for how much I love these wings; the simple fact that they effectively haven't left my back since I got them should speak for itself. My outfit is another older release, this time from r2; I had considered looking for a skirt to go under the sheer top, and I may still see what I can find for the other shirt tops as I am certain they'll make their way through this blog. One problem with mesh separates is that they are much harder to layer due to the different shapes people use, and this is made doubly difficult with sheer - but the quality of this top is so high I think the effort is well worth it. You can see how delicately it meets the chest, how elegant it is while being completely alluring. Finally, my shoes - from Syl - are part of an ever-increasing stable of shoes made to complement the SLink feet. I particularly like these because of the unusual shape and the strappy style; you can see them up close in this picture, how well they are shaped and textured, and the open work of the heel. This is the lower platform - there is also a higher platform which might require you to edit your shape to stand taller. I love these sorts of artistic, unusual shoe styles, so when I saw these and thought through my rather extreme stylin for this look, these seemed simply perfect - and I think you'll agree they are.

From toe to head - these gorgeous boots are a Twisted Hunt prize from Dilly Dolls, and they well make hunting for that cursed little box worth it. I love the pointed shape and those enormous buttons; they're really a unique addition to anyone's wardrobe. In addition to these, rigged and sized for women, there is a men's version, so guys you have no excuses! Hunt!! My amazing outfit is something I picked up ages ago at Fantasy Faire from Evie's Closet, and I've been waiting for an excuse to tromp about in my undies and take pictures in it. The red was exclusive to the faire, but you can find it in blue, brown, green, and purple at her store - all of them gorgeous. It is a rigged mesh and flexible prim combination; the bodice and undies are mesh, but the floaty additions are flexible prim and the corset underneath is textured. It's a real combination of all of the best Second Life has to offer in couture, and rigged beautifully. My jewelry is another old release - what can I say, I'm slow! - from Lassitude & Ennui. I particularly like the circlet, and I'd love to see some bracelets and anklets int he same style. The drop effect is so fetching and delicate, without getting lost in more distant pictures. My hair is a gorgeous example of Discord Designs' fatter braids, and I really love how it blends in with the hairbase underneath. I think the effect is very natural and funky without being out of control. Finally, my hat is from Ma Vie, a new-to-me store I discovered through this gatcha at the Arcade event going on through the month. This was one of the prizes, and I really was in love as soon as I saw it. It's a beautiful, striking hat - and I'd love to see a similar design in a fan, too; the detail of the roses is very unique, and I love the pattern on the headcovering, too. Her store seems to be mostly a pose one, which I'll have to check out for the future, but hopefully we'll get a chance to see more beautiful accessories from her as well.

Monday Meme: Memeception
Strawberry has a new meme; she encourages us to take memes that we like outside of Second Life and recreate them inside of Second Life - or start a meme of our own! At first, I was utterly stumped; outside of buckets and cats with cheeseburgers, I tend to be a bit out of the loop on the picture version of memes, and I didn't much feel like finding an animal avatar to recreate my favorite cat with bread on her head, or try to be Maru in a box. A little bit of digging on Know Your Meme, though, and I had more ideas than I knew what to do with - and had been reminded of one of my longstanding favorites, which predate picture memes being a common thing, demotivaitonal posters. I hope you like my poor offerings, and check out Strawberry's Blogpost for the creative outpourings of others.

Twisted Color Challenge: Week 36: Great White Way
The Great White Way is a combination of a creamish color and a pale blue, both delicate and challenging to find in Second Life. Luckily, Eclectica just released new shoes, and they formed the basis for my outfit - the cream of the shoe and the pale blue, texture change trim. The button can also be texture changed, and I tinted it gold to reflect the shade of my hair since my skin was so close to the cream of this challenge already. I love the teardrop pattern on these, and the sleek simplicity of the shape; they somehow seem both realistic and luxurious, and I'm totally going to be wearing these a lot. My other duel-colored accessory is this amazing pipe, a new release from De La Soul and available at the We Love RP Event. It comes with a texture-changing HUD, and pretty much everything on it can change between a variety of shades - not a full rainbow, but harmonious cool shades with craculature texturing. It also has this very delicate, gorgeous smoke which filters up from it.
My eyeshadow is another We Love RP Event release, though I picked it up at the Fantasy Faire before that closed. It's delicately rendered, ombres of related colors, like the purple and blue shown above, released by Musa. I'm an enormous fan of fades, so this one makes me fairly wriggle with joy. Finally, my gorgeous dress is a release from Sweeter Than Candy, which was one of the first stores on the grid where I haunted her lucky chair and kept picking up her releases. In a lot of ways, it feels like her store has grown with me; starting with flexi-skirts in brilliant colors, she's matured into mesh with aplomb.

SL Disney Bound – Week Twenty Three: Carl & Ellie
I hit the wall with this last couples' challenge, and so I figured Carl tied some balloons to his pants and floated away, leaving Ellie to look for him. This is a look inspired by Ellie's more mature look, as she and Carl were dating as teenagers, so still a young Ellie but a little more grown up. I ended up taking advantage of one of the picture perfect houses at the newest MadPea build, Lennon Park, for their Lennon Park Massacre game. It's going on until the end of the month, and I hope you find my blog - with a few gentle hints - helpful.I really enjoyed exploring the sim and finding all of the interesting ins and outs - all of the places so perfectly built and accessorized that they're a dream to photograph. I tried to have a lot of fun with shadows this time, focusing on places near windows or outdoors in order to maximize the effect. I was both aided and inhibited by the number of trees - and ended up derendering a particularly huge tree to give myself a little more light. The texture re-rezzing glitch was definitely a frustration and bugaboo, though; it took three restarts and two days for this set.
My hair is a short cut from Wasabi Pills in an unusual shade of brown for me - I thought it matched Ellie's rather well - and the flyaway bangs and thin tendrils at the edges look so natural. I am not normally a short hair kind of girl, but loved the headband on this which I tinted (via the included HUD) to match this gorgeous dress from Zaara. The texturing on this dress is amazing, a delicate pattern of flowers, stems, and a corona of gold on a long, exquisitely built maxi dress. I particularly like the detail on the shoulder, with the ends of the strings dangling. Like most maxi dresses, it moves a bit strangely when your knees bend, but that's more a flaw of Second Life rigging, and sometimes it actually works more than expected. My jewelry was a group gift from Virtual Impressions which is no longer available, but a new one is up for everyone; she is one of the most generous jewelers on the grid, and her designs are often as simple and sweet as this one, but with HUD driven texture changes. Finally, my shiny gold shoes - which you will be seeing again in other colors and outfits which show off the top, because it is awesome calf wrapping - are a new release from Felicity which are really fun and delicate in design.

MadPea Hunt: Lennon Park Massacre
Welcome to the Lennon Park Massacre by Madpea Productions! 12 teens and 3 camp counselors were found dead in a tragic school bus fire 1 year ago. The bus had just left a summer camp at Lennon Park. A single teen survivor, Madison Walkner, was able to escape the flames and call 911. The bad publicity closed Lennon Park and the abandoned camp was never investigated, until now! Was this truly an accident? It's time to solve the mystery. To conduct your investigation you will click the activities on your HUD which is a copy of the camp schedule. Each activity was held at a different area of the camp.
Explore these areas for clues! These clues will lead you to another location where a second clue will be hidden. Turn up your speakers and read everything in local chat carefully. Pay attention and watch as your HUD changes as new clues are discovered. Your goal is to find all the clues to discover the truth behind the Lennon Park Massacre. If you succeed, there will be rewards for your excellent detective skills. If you need help, consider joining the Madpeas group. Good Luck :)
Welcome. The game starts here: LennonParkOnTheRock (121,36,29)
You are looking for the lost lanyards of the campers all over the sim, each of them in the different areas on the calendar. As you go, bits of information about what happen get filled in, especially when you go to the different stores to find the letters that each child wrote home, most of them lost in a variety of places - very careless parents they had! The combination of the information from the lanyard and the letter fill in the story and take you to a final place where the final fate of the campers and their counselors will be learned. One additional note - the prizes at the end will come in wonderful numbered folders, instead of a bunch of objects, so it's very easy to figure out what is from where.

I met this really cool girl at camp and she said she could teach me in private so the other kids don't make fun of me. Isn't that really nice of her?! There is this cute boy too, named Noah that I have a total crush on! Oops, I got to go. Love you so much! Hugs & Kisses - Renee" You should go back to the camp and look for more clues.

I wish I could cram it all inside this envelope, but you will have to wait until camp is over to see it! I did cut my finger on the scissors and panicked from the sight of blood. Luckily it was just a small amount so I didn't faint, but I was still scared. This nice girl helped me with a band-aid and she wants to do some finger painting! I met this girl that likes to feed the fishes and she was the one that encouraged me to take up fishing. I just hope I'm not a failure, it's my greatest fear to not be good at anything. We need something that will get the campers excited. I'm always hesitant getting the fire started in fear some stray spark will set my clothes on fire. Surprisingly one of the girls volunteered to help me this year which is very kind of her. She said if she sprays my clothes with water then they can't catch on fire! Why didn't I think of that? It has been so stressful these first couple days, but I am starting to have fun at camp. There is a cooking class coming up that I think will be awesome. We will be making Chili con carne! Yummy! I just need to be careful I don't make mine too spicy. You know how I hate spicy food and my throat closes up so I can't breathe. It scares me just to think about it! I am teaming up with this fun girl I met here at camp. She is going to help me watch the pot while I chop the vegetables and cook the meat. We will make a great team and already set a time when we will be alone in the kitchen so we can focus on the recipe. I signed up for the performing arts program and I got the lead role in the play! Sadly, I don't have much time to learn the lines. There is some girl I have never met before playing the supporting role. She's very good and we rehearse early in the morning on the stage. All we have left is the fight scene where she is supposed to slap me in the face. Of course, it's just acting! I can't imagine she would actually hit me, I would just die if I got a black eye and didn't have any makeup! Ok, I have to get back to memorizing my lines. Hugs all around! I was bummed they got rid of the Lab activities this year, but instead they have photography which is really cool. They give you a camera and teach you how to take pictures! I keep trying to talk myself into going to the top of the lighthouse to take some scenic shots. I am so scared of heights though, so I just can't do it on my own. I know you wanted to go see Nascar in Atlanta this summer, but I have a commitment to these kids! They need a counselor to help guide them and show them the right path in life. Do you know how rewarding that is for me? No, you don't. Gah, I'm sorry, I just wish you would show me some support. I have a meeting with this girl later tonight that insisted on meeting in the evening because it's the easiest time for her to vent her feelings. Sounds strange, but I'm here to help. You found a letter to home from Kylie Wright. "Hey Mom & Dad! It's me Kylie! I hope you are both doing well. Summer camp just started and I am already a part of some drama! Apparently there is this rumor that I started an online blog and was talking all this crap about people. It's so totally NOT true and it really upsets me people are judging me like that without even knowing me! It's ok though, my true friends can see right through it and know what kind of loving person I really am. I just met this new girl that totally has my back. She is a bit strange and likes to play hide & seek. She finds me pretty easily though because I hate hiding in tight, enclosed spaces. I made a couple of new friends and there is lots of fun activities to do. I've been thinking of trying out gardening this time. Yes, I know I'm allergic to bee stings. I already see you panicking and waving your arms up and down to warn me. However, there was this really nice girl that gave me some lotion that she said wards off bees! I plan on trying it out tomorrow and walking with her to the greenhouse to plant some flowers together. Maybe she likes me! I can't explain it, but when she talks I know I can trust her. I will write again soon. - Elijah" You should go back to the camp and look for more clues.

You found a camp lanyard at the Overlook. This one belongs to Grace Miller. An address and phone number are on the back. Did Grace write a letter home while at camp? ... Sage Isle (72,133,32)
You found a letter to home from Grace Miller. "Hey Big Brother, I'm still waiting for that $20 you owe me! Just because I'm at camp is not an excuse you can't pay me back. Alright, because I love you I'll let you give it to me when I get back from camp, but there will be interest! I am signing up for a new activity this year...bird watching. I got some binoculars from Mom and she said I should try observing nature. Now you know I am terrified of birds so I am a bit nervous. I figure if I leave them alone then they will leave me alone. I think they might be fun to watch though."
"I let this one girl borrow my binoculars to scope out the area. We got to be good friends and she said the best time to see the birds is while everyone is at lunch so it's very quiet. We plan on watching them together. I'll be fine as long as she keeps her big bag of bird seed away from me! Say Hi to Mom & Dad for me! Hugs! - Grace" You should go back to the camp and look for more clues.

You should travel to the address and look for the letter. Sunfield (161,70,22)
You found a letter to home from Ryan Simmons. "Hi Mom and Sis, just a quick letter to let you know something I discovered at summer camp. I am going to go exploring and see if I can find the abandoned mining tunnels. This is so cool! I feel like Indiana Jones going on an expedition."
"I should be careful though. I wouldn't want to touch any germs! I'm so scared I might get some disease or get very sick! I scraped my leg pretty badly and I don't want it to get infected. You decide to call the number. "I don't care who you are. I refuse to answer any more questions about Karen. We have already been through so much. I never even got to read her last letter she sent home. A stupid pigeon snatched it from my hands and is probably using it as a nest somewhere!" You should travel to the address and look for the letter. Pirate Point Break (219,202,25)
You found a letter to home from Karen Foster. "Hi everyone! I am so stoked that I am old enough to be a camp counselor at summer camp this year! It is a lot of work, but very rewarding. Since it's my first year I am stuck doing a lot of the grunt work. Cleaning up after everyone and serving food. You may think that's an easy job, but that also includes feeding all the creepy crawlies in the nature center! Lizards and spiders I can deal with, but not snakes! I am terrified of snakes! But I got to suck it up and make a good first impression."
"At least the snakes are not poisonous or harmful, but I get so creeped out feeding them a dead mouse every morning. Yuck! On the bright side, one of the girls volunteered to clean the tanks so I don't have to actually touch any of those critters! I had to cut her a deal and let her play near the mining tunnel at the corner of the park, but she's a big girl and can take care of herself. Phew, thank god for nice campers! I just hope I don't screw up this opportunity I've been given. You're all in my prayers! Be safe! - Karen" You should go back to the camp and look for more clues.
Wait! These 15 campers all had some kind of fear and interacted with the same girl. You should investigate that abandoned mining tunnel and see what you discover! LennonParkOnTheRock (125,37,1999)
Inside, I found a room with blood stains leaking out under the door. Pressing the door open with trepidation, within blood and body parts covered the floor, and written on the words in the victims blood were, "Feed me your fear", "I Want Immortality", and "Your hearts are mine". Beyond that door was a bizarre place where the ritual took place, containers of gold simply strewn about as if they were nothing - but where was the now-immortal girl? And who was she?
You can't believe what happened here! Madison stole the medical records from the nurse's station, learned everyone's fears, then was friendly to these campers until she gained their trust. Then each day she killed them off one by one while they were facing their greatest fear at each activity. She dragged their bodies back here to the mine and carved out their hearts to store them in these jars. Once she had all 15 hearts, she performed this dark ritual to gain immortality! To cover everything up, she stacked the bodies in the school bus and set it on fire to make it look like an accident. Congratulations! You have discovered the the truth behind the Lennon Park Massacre! Please enjoy these rewards for your hard work and thank you for playing!
Exploring the cave further, I found a dark hole in the back which lead to a mysterious room. It was somewhat abandoned, like the entire camp, with an enormous map of the camp on the wall. A little way beyond, pictures of each person who died were crossed off in red, with "One a day" written underneath them.

Each backpack gives you an option of four items. You have to figure out what item you need, and what item you should use it on, in the entire sim. This is about as easy as it sounds - which is to say, not very. Unlike the lanyards and letters, though, the little hand does show up over the items you can click, and I've left a few hints as to where they are in this post.
